Winter Outfits for Your Shape: Boyish

what to wear for a boyish figure, kiera knightly, styledbysteph96, skirts, dresses, feminine outfits, winter outfit ideas

What is a boyish figure?

A girl with a boyish figure typically has narrow hips, a small bust, and potentially broad shoulders. Keira Knightly is a perfect example so I used her for the what to wear and what to avoid photos so you can compare.

What to Wear:

  • Dresses and skirts that are fit and flare or have a ruffle or other feminine embellishments
  • Outfits that are belted or draw attention to the waist to give an hourglass shape

The white top and skater skirt combo will give your curvier hips and the draped top is flattering on flat-chested girls.

Fit and Flare dresses are always flattering on boyish figures but this one has a sweet-heart neckline which looks better than a boat of off the shoulder neckline. Illusion dresses can do wonders for your body, this particular one draws attention to the waist and bust.

What to Avoid:

  • Menswear inspired clothes
  • Strapless clothes (they can make you shoulder look wider and can be annoying to wear if you don’t have much to keep the top up)
  • Boxy Clothes

Fall/ Winter Outfit Ideas for Your Shape: Petite

petite celebrity fashion, over the knee boots, styledbysteph96, olivia palermo

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t posted recently. I just got my wisdom teeth out!  As always let me know what you think of these outfits and what shape you want me to feature next!

1) Over the Knee/ Thigh High Boots

petite celebrity fashion, over the knee boots, styledbysteph96, olivia palermoLeft to Right: Olivia Palermo (5’4″), Mila Kunis (5’4″), Julianne Hough (5’3″), Hayden Panettiere (5’0″)

A lot of petite girls avoid over the knee or thigh high boots because they think they will be too tall on their legs, but they are actually extremely flattering! The celebs above don’t really even look petite!

For a more casual look over the knee boots and jeggings will work well. When wearing over the knee boots always make sure that you are wearing tight bottoms so your legs look long and lean. Dressier boots look great with a mini dress and actually cover up more than regular heels would while making your legs seem longer. Continue Reading

1) Clean Out and Organize Your Closet so You can Make the Most of What You Have

My Top Product Picks:

1) Hanger Holder

hanger holder, closet, storage, organization store, styledbysteph, resolutionsOrganization Store, $19.97

All of my spare hangers always end up in a jumbled mess so this would be very convenient!

2) Scarf Organizer

High Fashion Home, $14.99

This is just too cute and adds will add a  little sass and personality to your closet.

3) Multi- Tier Skirt/Pants Hanger

amazon, hanger, skirt, small space solutions, style, styledbysteph96, decor

Amazon,$5.89

As a college student making the most of space is crucial. I love these to hang up all of my skirts and pants; they save so much room!

If you are a pack-rat like me and have a hard time deciding what items you should keep and which ones you should get rid of try turning all of your hangers the wrong direction and whenever you wear an item turn it the right direction. After a year (or whatever time period you choose) get rid of any items that are still facing backwards.

Also, a lot of clothes don’t fit me right so I end up with a lot of items I like but that need altering so now is the perfect time to get that done! I’m going to try to avoid buying clothes that need altering this year unless they are for a special event but that is easier said than done since I am so petite. Continue Reading
